Sophia Archives (formerly the Historical Materials Office) introduces booklets, books, and leaflets published by the Archives.
For materials available through the Sophia University Repository for Academic Resources “Sophia-R”, the full text or table of contents is provided in PDF format. Sophia University students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the Friends of the Library, may also view the printed materials at the university library.

The Sophia Archives Booklet series was launched in April 2020 as part of the expansion and reorganization of Sophia University Historical Records Room as Sophia Archives. The series aims to further scholarship and contribute to society’s advancement by enabling a deeper understanding of the past. It publishes in a bilingual Japanese and English format research based on sources preserved at the Sophia Archives and elsewhere on (1) the history of Sophia University and its affiliated schools, (2) the activities of members of the Jesuit order and other individuals connected to Sophia School Corporation, and (3) materials pertinent to the purview of Sophia Archives.
Booklets are available via the Sophia University Repository for Academic Resources “Sophia-R”. Printed copies are not provided.

The six-volume Jōchi Daigaku-shi shiryōshū (including five volumes and a supplement) was compiled and published to prevent the loss of valuable documents and with a view toward future compilation of the university’s history.
